STEM DAY ACTIVITY

Our first STEM Day was a success. Students were asked to build a structure that would withstand both low and high winds. We had an amazing parent guest speaker who spoke to us about how he builds bridges and what makes them strong enough to withstand high winds. We read a book about skyscrapers to see what other structures we could build. We also read a fiction story about the wind blowing peoples things away! Then we imagined, got in groups and came up with a plan, built our structures, and tested them. We measured our structures and compared them to others. Some groups even got a chance to improve and test again!
