Thank you

Thank you so much for a wonderful conference week. The students did such a great job sharing their leadership notebooks with you. I am so proud of them and I know you are too. They have made so much progress already! I can't wait to see what the next 9 weeks brings.

In math we have been estimating and measuring using centimeters. The students had a great time measuring pumpkins . We are using our estimates and  actual measurements to learn a new strategy. The strategy is called adding up in chunks. It is a subtraction strategy. It's very different than the way you and I learned to subtract. Have your child show you! (I added a picture of a sample below in case you need some help;))

Compound Word Day!

Compound word day was so much fun! The students did a fantastic job of dressing up in as many compound words as they could. It was a wonderful culminating activity!

This week we opened the mystery box! Inside the students found a ruler, measuring cup,a measuring spoon, a measuring tape, and a piece of string. Can you guess what we will be studying in math next? Measurement! We will begin by using a rule to estimate and measure objects using centimeters and meters.

The Fall festival is coming up on the 17th! Be sure to mark it down on your calendars!
