First In Math

This week we recieved our codes for a new computer program-First In Math. This site can be accessed at school and at home. Your child's login and password can be found inside the cover of your child's agenda. Please have your child use this site for math fact practice. It is tons of fun and the students can earn points for themselves, our class, and our school.

We are reviewing place value this week. The students had fun playing games.

In science we conducted an experiment using Hershey kisses. It was fun and delicious!

Our measusrement projects were great! The students did a fantastic job presenting them and sharing their findings. The projects are being displayed in the media center for all to enjoy.

Hope to see you this Thursday the 21st for our Thanksgiving lunch. Our lunch is at 11:00.

Using a hundreds Chart and Measurement

This week we practiced using a hundreds chart to both add and subtract. This is another new strategy for the students to use for addition, subtraction, and word problems. We will continue to use this strategy as well as the others we have learned to solve word problem. We also wrapped up our measurement unit with a performance task. The task asked students to create a castle for the king of measurement using his guidelines. You decide who "The Ruler of the Ruler" should be.
