Holiday Fun

We have had so much fun these past few days. The students looked great for Grinch Day. We enjoyed hot chocolate and our ride on The Polar Express. We met with our book buddies and read holiday stories and played math games. We exchanged books and had a sing-s-long. And fuinally, we had our class holiday party. Wow!

Thank you for all of your help and donations. Have a great winter break , make joyful memories, and I wish you and yours a happy and healthy new year.

Polar Express STEM

The students had a great time and were super successful when they created a bell that needed to jingle. The students were asked to imagine, plan, create, and improve their design with a partner. They accepted this STEM challenge and conquered it! We are ready for Polar Express Day on Monday.

Field Trip

We had a great field trip to see Miss Nelson is Missing! It was a musical which was new to many of the students. We also read, Miss Nelson Returns and watcher Miss Nelson's Field Day. That one had a surprise ending!

Happy Halloween!

Today was an exciting day. We got to visit with our book buddies. We graphed a gross snack, did a word search, and read books with our third grade friends.

The students "dressed" me up for Halloween.

We did a STEM project. We created critter catchers to see what design would hold the most critters.

Thank you and Magnets

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your very busy schedules to discuss your child's progress during conference week. The students did a great job sharing their leadership notebooks and data with you. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me or write a note in your child's GATOR book.

In the Science Lab this week we started to study magnets. The students were asked to use words like attract and repel. They learned that magnets have a North and South and that opposites attract. We also talked about what materials magnets are attracted to and can work through. We will continue to study magnets for the next few lessons.

Fluffy and Harry!

This has been a super exciting week for our class. We had a guest visitor on Monday. Fluffy the hamster came to class for the day. The students were so excited. She rolled around to see us all and we wrote stories about her!

We completed out first STEM project on Thursday. The students were asked to figure out a way to help Harry the bear see better around the room. We went through the engineering process. The students had a great time. Thank you so much for all of your supply donations. We can always use more empty paper towel rolls, if you will collect them for us.

Have a great  Fall Break!
