100th Day!

This week we celebrated our 100th day of school. The students got to choose from 9 100th day centers. They had a great time imaging what they would look like at 100, building with 100 Legos, completing a 100's chart, and of course making 100th day snack.

Harriet Tubman

For the past 2 weeks we have been studying Harriet Tubman. Please ask you child about her and her contribution, characters traits, and facts they have learned. Our class created our own freedom quilt and book as pat of this unit.

We have started a new writing genre. This 9 weeks our focus will be on opinion writing. The students first practice piece was about what color they liked best. Ask your child their favorite color and why it is the best! Next week will will write about our favorite season and come up with reasons to prove why it is the best.

This week we also discussed and practiced our doubles facts. Please help your child memorize them. Especially,7,8,and 9! They are tricky!

As I am sure you heard, Chess Club came to visit us this week. The students has a wonderful time learning o]how to play. They really enjoyed it. If you know how to play, I encourage you to play with your child at home.
