Teddy Bear Day

Teddy Bear Day was super and packed with "berry" fun activities! The students completed a bridge challenge. They were tasked to create a bridge using only 4 Popsicle sticks and 4 cups to safely hold 20 plastic bears. They used a venn diagram to compare and contrast their bear to a friend's . They graphed gummy bears and measured their own bear. We also partner read bear stories. What a great day!

Bird Nest STEM Challenge

This week we have been researching and planning to prepare for our STEM challenge. The students spent time researching 4 types of nests. They were asked to decide on what kind of nest they wanted to build. We spent time collecting natural materials to use around the school grounds. They thought of a plan using both natural and man made materials. The students were placed in groups according to the type of nest they wanted to build. Then they synergized to come up with a final plan to try and build. We worked in the science lab to create our nests. The students were amazing! We had each type of nest represented. Among other standards, this STEM reinforced the 3rd nine week science standards regarding animal needs and how to ensure their needs are met.
