The students were challenged to create a model of a thermometer and be able to explain to a kindergarten students how it works and what it measures. They did a fantastic job! STEM challenges allow students to plan, collaborate, create and evaluate. They incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (plus they are lots of fun).

Seasons and Weather
The students have been working very hard researching seasons. First they read books and watched Brain Pop Jr. on the season they choose. Next, they read about their season on Pebble Go. Then they created posters with their group to show the weather, activities, clothes, and a tree for their season. They also attached their research notes!
In the Learning Commons, they used Near Pod to read about the seasons and draw what they would wear for each.
In the Science Lab they practiced using thermometers to tell the temperature. They are budding meteorologists!!

We have been working really hard to build our stamina. We have made it to 1 minutes!!! The children practiced retelling their stories that they read to partners. Next week we should make it to our goal or 20 minutes. We also learned 2 activities to go with working on writing and 3 word word activities. We will continue to learn more ways to practice our writing and spelling words next week. We practiced graphing with skittles!
